Calcium Carbonate – Calcite

Calcium carbonate, also known as calcite or limestone, is a chemical compound with the chemical formula CaCO3, odorless, pearl white in color, in powder form, and a member of antacids.
Calcium carbonate has the same properties as other carbonates.

Calcium carbonate is widely used in industry for the production of different materials such as marble, chalk, and limestone.
Similarly, this compound is extensively utilized in the production of paint materials. Calcium carbonate, also used in PVC production, is a molecule employed in ceramic manufacturing.
In the medical field, it is generally used to bind phosphorus in foods and balance phosphate compounds in cases of chronic kidney failure where kidney function is lost and phosphorus cannot be excreted through urine.
In the food industry, it is used as a food additive under the name E170 and in soy milk. In recent years, calcium carbonate has been found to play an important role in maintaining environmental balance.
