Citric Acid – Lemon Salt

Citric acid, also known as citrate, is a weak organic acid with the chemical formula C6H8O7.
Citrate is a derivative of citric acid; that is, the salts, esters, and polyatomic anions present in solution.
The first type is trisodium citrate, a salt; another is triethyl citrate, an ester.

As a strong edible acid, citric acid is commonly used as a flavoring and preservative additive in food and beverages, especially in soft drinks and confectionery.
It is used as a food preservative under the code E330.
The citrate salts of various minerals are used to deliver these minerals in a bioavailable form in many dietary supplements.
It can be used to treat water, which is useful in enhancing the effectiveness of soaps and laundry detergents.
It is used as an active ingredient in proprietary commercial products for residential and commercial use as a disinfectant and fungicide.
Additionally, citric acid is used to kill odor-causing bacteria, mold, pathogenic fungi, some bacteria, and some viruses in products. Citric acid products are used in bathrooms, on/in dairy and food processing equipment.
