Sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda and lye,[3][4] is an inorganic compound with the formula NaOH.
It is a white solid ionic compound composed of sodium cations Na⁺ and hydroxide anions OH⁻.
Application Area
Sodium hydroxide (also called caustic soda or lye) is used in laboratories to capture acidic gases such as CO₂.
In industry, it is used in the production of many chemicals, as well as in the rayon, soap, paper, paint, and detergent industries, and in oil refineries.
It is also used together with positive20 in screen printing.
It is a base.
When it reacts with water, its temperature rises to approximately 50°C within about 5 minutes and remains hot for about 15 minutes.
