Krebs, Stain Textile Cleaner
All inks contain resin to provide color, achieve flexibility, and adhere to the material.
Inks also contain other additives to ensure these components work effectively.
In solvent-based ink systems, for example, solvents act as a carrier for all other ink components and provide the appropriate fluidity.
Once the solvent is carried to the material, it is no longer needed and evaporates.
In UV-curable systems, monomers replace solvents. These chemicals have a very simple molecular structure.
Monomers also form polymers. UV-curable inks and coatings also contain photoinitiators.
As soon as these substances reach the material, they are exposed to light from UV lamps, initiating the bonding reaction between monomers and resins.
This process continues until the molecules cross-link and polymerize, until the ink is fully dried and solidified.
