Paraffin – Massage and Physical Therapy

Paraffin is a material frequently used in massage and physical therapy applications. Paraffin is a type of wax used for skin care and treatment purposes.

Candle grade paraffin, which is an industrial product, is not used for making wax.
The paraffin used for container candles is not suitable for use in molds.
Likewise, the paraffin used for molds is not suitable for use in container candles.
Every paraffin undergoes shrinkage after pouring during candle making.
To minimize shrinkage, it is recommended to pour from the bottom up without allowing air exposure.
After the paraffin solidifies, additional material can be added to the area where shrinkage occurred.
A stearin ratio of 10% to 15% is recommended.
It is important that the wick used is 100% cotton.
Flammability, flame height, and soot production are directly proportional to the wick.
According to the paraffin’s properties, it is melted at its melting point, stearin is added, and if desired, color is added first, followed by fragrance.
