Potassium Chloride

Potassium Chloride is a metal halide composed of potassium and chloride.
Potassium is essential for maintaining intracellular tonicity, nerve transmission, contraction of cardiac, skeletal, and smooth muscles, energy production, synthesis of nucleic acids, maintenance of blood pressure, and normal kidney function.

Potassium chloride is a metal chloride salt with a K ( ) counterion. It is also used as a fertilizer.
It is used in photography. It is used in electrode cells in buffer solutions.
It has many applications, including as a fertilizer, a source of potassium salts, pharmaceutical preparations, photography, spectroscopy; plant nutrient, salt production, laboratory reagent, in buffer solutions, and as a food additive.
It is used in medical preparations as a gastrointestinal lavage.
Both oil-based and water-based fracturing fluids are used in the fracturing industry. Water-based fluids, containing alcohol-water mixtures and acids with low resistance, constitute the majority of treatment fluids.
Common chemicals added to these fluids include polymers for viscosity development, crosslinkers for viscosity increase, pH control chemicals, gel breakers for polymer degradation after treatment, surfactants, clay stabilizers, alcohol, bactericides, fluid loss additives, and friction reducers.
